   Determine the licence type

   Identify whether you need Basic, State, or Central based on your turnover and operations.

   Prepare the documents

   We collect and verify the required documents and prepare your FSMS declaration and product list.

   File the application on FoSCoS

   Submit Form A (Basic) or Form B (State/Central) on the FoSCoS portal with the applicable fee.

   Application review

   The food safety authority reviews the application and supporting documents.

   Inspection (if applicable)

   For State/Central licences, a designated officer may inspect the premises before approval.

   Grant of registration/licence

   On approval, the FSSAI registration certificate or licence with the 14-digit number is issued.

   The authority verifies the application and documents for completeness and accuracy.

   Premises inspection

   A Food Safety Officer may inspect the premises to confirm hygiene and safety standards (mainly for State/Central licences).

   Any deficiencies are communicated; the applicant submits clarifications or additional documents.

   Approval & issuance

   Once satisfied, the authority approves and issues the registration/licence.

   Apply before expiry

   File the renewal application at least 30 days before the licence expiry date to avoid a late fee.

   Update details

   Update any changes in business details, products, or premises during renewal.

   Pay the renewal fee

   Pay the applicable renewal fee based on the licence type and chosen validity period.

   Renewed licence issued

   On verification, the renewed FSSAI licence is issued for the selected period.

   Visit the FoSCoS portal

   Go to the official FoSCoS website used to apply for FSSAI registration/licence.

   Open 'Track Application'

   Select the track-application option and enter your reference/application number.

   View the status

   The current status of your application is displayed online.
